To open a comma-separated (CSV) file use the Running ModMultiSim with file options ).
→ menu item. This will bring up a dialog that allows you to enter or select the name of the CSV file that you want to open. Note that when you first open this dialog it displays files in your current working directory by default, but you can change this behaviour (seeIf the file is not in the correct format, an error will be displayed in the status bar. The correct format for a CSV file is documented in the appendix Comma-Separated-Values (CSV) format).
Importing registers merges registers from the file with any registers already created. So registers with new addresses are added, existing registers that share an address are replaced, and any registers not in the new file remain along with all others. If you want to totally replace the set of register definitions you need to select the Delete All Registers panel in → before you import the new configuration file.
This menu option is disabled if there is not yet a slave to which the registers can be imported. It is also disabled when ModMultiSim is either serving a master or running the slave simulation (i.e. when
or are highlighted).Note that if slaves have identical registers and behave (via their programming) in the same way, the feature can be used to duplicate slaves quickly.
