To open a settings file use the File → Open Settings... menu item, or type Ctrl-O. This will bring up a dialog that allows you to enter or select the name of the settings file that you want to open. Note that when you first open this dialog it displays files in your current working director by default, but you can change this behaviour (see Running ModSlaveSim with file options ).

The file must be one that has been saved by ModSlaveSim in the correct format. If it is not in the correct format, an error is displayed in the status bar.

Loading registers merges registers from the file with any registers already created. So registers with new addresses are added, existing registers that share an address are replaced, and any registers not in the new file remain along with all others. If you want to totally replace the set of register definitions you need to select the Delete All Registers panel in Settings → Edit Settings... before you open the new configuration file.

This menu option is disabled when ModSlaveSim is either serving a master or running the slave simulation (i.e. when Serve Masters or Run Slave Simulation are highlighted).
