Modsak Manual - Introduction
Modsak is a versatile Modbus diagnostic program that can used to test or simulate almost any device or system that uses the Modbus protocol.
To run Modsak under Windows, you can use the Windows Run dialog or double-click on the icon or filename.
To run Modsak under other operating systems (or from a Windows command window) use the command:
java -jar modsak2.13.jar
You will, of course, need to use the full pathname for the
modsak2.13.jar file if
it's not in your current directory.
You will probably want to create a shortcut,
launcher, shell script, or whatever to save you having to keep typing the
above command.
When you start Modsak the main window is displayed (Figure 1, “Main window”).
At the top of the window are the usual menu bar and tool bar.
The central part of the window is used to display Modbus registers.
At the bottom of the window is a "status bar", which is used to display error and information messages. Many of the error messages displayed in the status bar have an Error Help button, which provides help on the error message (you can also get this help by pressing the F4 key).
Instructions for setting up Modsak are given in the section Setup overview.
To exit from Modsak, select the → menu item or click the close button of the main window.
